Did you know Pluto has a heart shaped lake filled with poisonous ice?

Elizabeth Woolridge Grant, popularly known as Lana Del Rey, is one of my favorite singers. Well, we can say she is my favorite after Abel Tesfaye aka The Weeknd. Del Rey released her album "Did You Know There's A Tunnel Under Ocean Blvd" a few months back and oh boy, should I say I fucking loved that album. However, one day as I was surfing Instagram, I saw a meme that said "Did you know Pluto has a heart-shaped lake filled with poisonous ice?" and the reply read, "This sounds like a Lana Del Rey song."

So, I decided to convert that line into a Lana Del Rey song. I couldn't write much, just this much because her songs have a really complex vocabulary and a lot of references. Anyways, you can read it below.

PC: Wired

Did you know Pluto has a heart-shaped lake filled with poisonous ice?

Like frozen carbon monoxide and methane, something they say
But there are people skiing on them like ephemeral pleasure
Because the tiles underneath were painted with pretty portraits

And I watched the reflection of the Milky Way as I tapped my toes on them
And lost count of all my sorrows like the canopy of stars over my head
Did you know Pluto has a heart-shaped lake filled with poisonous ice?
Like his, but I still wanna live there with no worries.

Y'all can help me continue this haha.

I attended the wedding of the man I love

A few months back, I was late for the class. So, I decided to sit in a small local tea shop and ordered a cup of coffee and some cookies. As I was scrolling through YouTube, I ran across a video titled "I attended the wedding of a man I loved" by Anna Akana. I watched it and it was so beautiful. I somehow got inspired by that poetry so I decided to write my version of it. I took out my notebook and my pen and started to write down the draft. After a lot of thinking and corrections, here is the final poem.

I attended the wedding of the man I love, not as his spouse but as his best man
I dressed up in a black tuxedo and he dressed up in a white one
I stood next to him as he exchanged the rings with his wife
And while he was taking his vows, I imagined that it was for me

Everyone clapped and I came back to reality and clapped along
They popped a bottle of champagne and all I could think of was the bottles of beer we had popped together
We were never lovers to say the most but I loved him and he loved me as a friend
I was never his preferred sexual orientation but he was mine

He came to me and all I could see in his eyes were the happiness and the love for his new wife
I hugged him, rubbed his back, and whispered in his right ear, "I am so happy for you"
And then I told his wife, "You are one lucky woman because no one can love you like he can"
He laughed and said, "I am eagerly waiting for your turn"

Neither could I relate to any love songs that the band was playing
Nor could I not realize how beautiful they looked with each other
In the past, whenever I heard those songs, all I could ever think of was him
But now at that moment, my world was just gray under the yellow lights

I was getting suffocated inside the crowded hall, so I went out and sat on the stairs
I took out a stick of cigarette as the cold wind hit my cheeks
All I could think of was all the nights we spent together with cigarettes and alcohol
And as the ceremony began to get even more vivid, I became still like Elio staring at the fireplace while the whole world kept going on behind my back

***

So basically I am in love with someone and that someone happened to be a man. He is someone I know very closely and I almost see him every day. Honestly speaking, I had no idea that I would be this crazy for him, but it happened. I was quite amused and surprised by how quickly I fell head-over-heels for him and I have given him a lot of hints that I really like him, but I guess he is not very good at picking the Easter eggs. Also, I have no expectations that he will love me back because of the fact that he is straight lol. So, this poem is just an imagination of me attending his wedding, and expressing how I will feel if this happens someday for real.

Trevor Daniel is an American singer and songwriter who has been making music since 2017. But during those days, he wasn’t that mainstream, and his songs didn’t get much attention. In 2019, he gained immense popularity with the song “Falling”, which was originally released back in 2018. “Falling” was the song from his first studio album, Nicotine.

The song soon started to get popular on Tiktok after some users used it in their videos. Although there is no certain type of video theme for the song, it became popular as a lot of users started to use it in their videos.

“Falling” finally peaked at number 17 in the Billboard Hot 100 chart making it his first song to do so, and that too after 2 years of its release. Today, Daniel has collaborated with top artists of this generation like Selena Gomez, Julia Michaels, Tainy, Bebe Rexha, Becky G, etc.

4. Curtis Waters:

PC: The Kathmandu Post

Arshia Fattahi, known professionally by his stage name, Curtis Waters, is a Nepali-Canadian singer and songwriter, who gained overnight popularity with the song “Stunnin”, and he is just 21 at that time.

Originally born in Kathmandu, Nepal, Waters moved to India and Germany and finally settled in Canada. His stage name is derived from two of his favorite artists: Ian Curtis and Frank Ocean.

Waters became popular overnight when his song “Stunnin” went viral on TikTok, and started a trend called #whatidwear. In the video, people show different fashion styles with every verse of the song. It became so popular that even the popular Disney star, Debby Ryan, recreated some of her most iconic outfits in this song. That video has over 26 Million likes, and like this Curtis Waters came into the limelight.

3. Conan Gray:

PC: Seventeen Magazine

Although Conan Gray started his career as a teenager by making vlogs, covering songs, and also uploading some of his originals, his biggest break came in 2020 when he released the song, “Heather”, which became a huge summer hit of 2020. The song was from his album, Kid Krow.

The lyrics of the song tell a story where he used to love a boy, but that boy loves a girl named Heather, and he expresses both his jealousy and appreciation towards her and wishes that he was Heather. The song got popular on TikTok when people started to make videos defining perfect beauty in a meme-like format.

“Heather” even peaked at number 47 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, and even a legendary singer, Sir Elton John, praised the song saying, “There’s a boy called Conan Gray who has a song called ‘Heather’ and he’s about 22, he’s from America and he’s the only person in the [streaming chart] to actually write the song without anybody else. Everybody else there’s four or five writers on [a track]. You look at most of the records in the charts - they’re not real songs. They’re bits and pieces and it’s nice to hear someone write a proper song.”

2.     Doja Cat:

PC: Harper's Bazaar

Amala Ratna Zandile Dlamini, professionally known as Doja Cat, started her music career at the age of 17 on Soundcloud. Though she became mildly popular there, she later became an internet meme with the song “Mooo!”

People soon forget that meme, and instead she became known as an amazing singer and rapper due to her songs going viral on Tiktok. Her first song to go viral was “Say So”, where people created a certain dance step for the song. “Say So” also peaked at number 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart after a year of its release. Later, it was remixed by a very popular rapper, Nicki Minaj.

Cat’s other song was “Boss Bitch”, which peaked at number 47 in the chart. The video for the song features people doing transition videos from ugly to gorgeous and passing brush or comb trends, during the quarantine.

Today Doja Cat is a Grammy Award winner and has collaborated with very popular artists like Ozuna, Sia, SZA, The Weeknd, Nicki Minaj, Ariana Grande, Megan Thee Stallion, etc.

It also went number 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, and now she is featured in the remix version of Ariana Grande’s song “34+35”. 100 Years of Men's Fashion

PC: Vogue

Fashion keeps on evolving with time, as people like to experiment with new things and they start changing the way they are dressing. Today, we will see how it has evolved in the past 100 years.

If we talk about the ancient days, fashion didn’t play much part in people’s life, and we can see them just wrapping a shawl around their bodies. As time moved on, people started to design clothes slowly, and it has evolved heavily from heavy leather to light nylon.

So let us see how men used to dress 100 years ago, and how they dress now.

1920s:

PC: What My Boyfriend Wore

It was the time when suits were very trending, and men used to wear mainly three-piece suits. Also, bow ties and French hats became quite popular during that time. If you wanna see this look, you should watch the British series Peaky Blinders, and you will get a clear vision of how fashion was in the 20s.

1930s:

At this time, clothes started to get a bit baggy, big oversize pants, and some differently buttoned-up coats. White shoes, which are equivalent to white oxfords these days, were very popular during that time. Also, the French hats were replaced by round hats.

1940s:

It was during this time when bow ties were starting to get popular. The outfit became more formal with this look, and men used to look like some mafia boss from Hollywood movies. But one thing that remained quite constant during all these years, is a hat.

1950s:

Around the 50s, sleeveless sweaters became quite popular, which is now like a school uniform. Men were seen rocking these sweaters on the shirt and wearing oversized pants, which were still in fashion. Also, smoking started to look very classy during this time, and the hats evolved into cowboy hats.

1960s:

Clothes started to look very casual, and as it was time colors started to get very popular. The main outfit during that time was colorful shirts and pants, topped with a scarf hanging from the neck. Also, fashion transitioned from formal to streetwear at this time.

1970s:

Since most of the previous outfits were kind of loose and baggy, it was during this time when clothes started to get tighter for men, and their physique was highly exposed even with the clothes. The spectacles were also considered very fashionable during this time.

1980s:

Hollywood has played a major part in fashion, and it was this time when curly hairstyles started to trend. Men use to wear colorful aloha shirts with open buttons so that they can show their chest hair. Sunglasses started to get popular at this time, and so was a certain style of mustache.

1990s:

PC: Toyota Material Handling India

The outfits started to get more cool and casual. Also, the sunglasses completely got dark at this time, and all thanks to the band Nirvana, who introduced men to a different style. Also, other things like cardigans and beanies slowly started to take a rise.

2000s:

PC: Soiree

If you have ever watched the TV sitcom Friends, you will know how fashion was during that time. It was exactly like what Chandler and Ross from the show used to wear. While Joey’s style was mostly inspired by the 60s, the outfits in that show perfectly highlight the fashion at that time. Also, the colors of sunglasses started to change from black to other colorful colors.

2010s:

PC: Vogue India

Finally, we are close to our generation and the outfits started to become completely casual. The formals were usually worn only on special occasions, and the outfits started to get comfortable too. The jeans started trending and every other guy is seen wearing them, and a variety of shirts and t-shirts started being available, as the fashion industry has taken a major rise during this time.

2020s:

PC: StyleupK - Medium

Boys started to wear colors that were typically meant for girls, but as gender equality has started, boys are seen wearing mostly those kinds of colors. Also, thanks to some celebrities, hoodies have started to trend, and they became more popular due to TikTok. Sweatpants have become more popular at this time and the oversized clothes are back in fashion. Nowadays, this kind of fashion is called soft boy fashion.

We don’t know how fashion is going to evolve in the future. Well, we kind of hope that it doesn’t turn out to be robotic and completely aluminum.

During my early teenage years, I used to watch a lot of Hindi TV dramas, and they used to be so entertaining. My entire teenager years were ...
