Currently, the biggest boyband in the world, BTS, is no stranger to any music lover. The band has gained so much success in the past 10 years and now has established itself as a brand. Here we present to you 15 facts about BTS that you might or might not know. Let us get into it.

BTS consists of seven members: Kim Namjoon aka RM, Kim Seokjin aka Jin, Min Yoongi aka Suga, Jung Hoseok aka J-Hope, Kim Taehyung aka V, Park Jimin aka Jimin and Jeon Jungkook aka Jungkook. They have one of the biggest fandoms ever, known as ARMY. Not only ordinary people but there are many well-known celebrities who are fans of BTS. They include Taylor Swift, Ariana Grande, Jonas Brothers, Selena Gomez, Cole Sprouse, Jared Leto, etc. They also hold a lot of records and are credited for bringing K-pop to the mainstream.


Here, we present to you the top 15 facts about BTS that you might or might not know. Let us start the list:

1.     Many people think that the full form of BTS is Blood, Tears, and Sweat. But the actual full form is Bang Tang Sonyeondan, which means Bulletproof Boy Scouts. Now, they are also known as Beyond the Scene.

 

2.     BTS debuted on 13th June, 2013, with their first album “2 Cool 4 Skool”, which met with average success. It is also the first installment from the school trilogy.

 

3.     The label of BTS is Big Hit Entertainment, which discovered each one of them from different corners of South Korea. The label doesn’t want them to be involved in any kind of love affair and has a strict “no dating” policy.

 

4.     Kim Namjoon aka RM is the only one who can speak fluently in English. He says that the American TV series “Friends” helped him learn English.

 

5.     BTS has received 729 nominations and has won 515 awards in their lifetime career. They have also received a Grammy nomination for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance for their song “Dynamite”.

 

6.     Not only the stage name, but everyone has their own nickname too. RM’s nickname is Moonchild, Jin’s nickname is Worldwide Handsome, Suga’s nickname is Lil Meow Meow, J-Hope’s nickname is Hobi, Jimin’s nickname is Mochi or Chim Chim, V’s nickname is Tae Tae, Jungkook’s nickname is Kookie.


7.     BTS partnered with the United Nations and launched their official “Love Myself Campaign”. It prevents violence against children and teens and provides them support. They also spoke in the general assembly of the United Nations.

 

8.     Jin had no idea about singing and dancing as he always wanted to pursue fashion design. He was the only one to start from the beginning.

 

9.     In the list of most viewed online videos in less than 24 hours on YouTube, BTS has not one but four videos. They are Butter (2021) with 108+ Million views, Dynamite (2020) with 101+ Million views, Boy With Luv ft. Halsey (2019) with 74+ Million views and Life Goes On (2020) with 71+ Million views.

 

10.  BTS also appeared in various American talk shows such as The Ellen DeGeneres Show, Jimmy Kimmel Live, Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, The Late Late Show With James Corden, The Late Show With Stephen Colbert, etc, making them the first Korean music artists to do so.

 

11.  In 2017, V was listed number 1 in the list of the Most Handsome Faces of 2017 by TC Candler. In 2019, Jungkook topped the list, and in 2020 V came to the second position behind Swedish Youtuber PewDiePie.

 

12.  The boys have collaborated with many top artists around the world. Some of them are Nicki Minaj, The Chainsmokers, Halsey, Steve Aoki, Sia, Charlie XCX, Lauv, Becky G, Ed Sheeran, Jason Derulo, MAX, Lil Nas X, Juice WRLD, Charlie Puth, Latto, etc.

 

13.  Jungkook is the youngest member of the band. He is just 26 as of 2023. Also, Jungkook doesn’t wear expensive and branded clothes. He believes that local and small businesses should get attention, so wears whatever clothes he finds.

 

14.  BTS has four number 1 songs on the Billboard Hot 100 Chart. They are “Dynamite”, “Life Goes On”, “Butter” and “Savage Love remix”. Jungkook is the only member to have a solo number 1 hit with the song “Seven” featuring Latto.

15.  BTS is the first K-pop artist who has received their own emoji. They are usually represented with a purple heart, and they also coined the phrase “I Purple You” which is equivalent to “I Love You”.
